What People are Saying
My son wants to be an inventor now! He has built a submarine and hydraulic crane and can’t stop smiling. A loving, fun team drive this class with infectious enthusiasm. We need more of this in schools!
It has a lot of creativity. You get to make a lot of cool stuff! In most cases there isn’t a right or wrong answer.
An amazing experience! The set-up of the task was very thoughtful and really allowed students to procedurally and conceptually understand the how the Lenape tribe were able to construct their wigwam homes.
This is not just another after school program filled with one-off crafts. It is a long-tail approach, and gets to the heart of the “why” behind the invention of the wheel and its impact for future inventing!
It lets you push your skill set beyond what you ever pushed before!
You get to make all of these cool machines and the teachers don’t have to do everything for you. You get to create your own things!
My favorite thing about the classroom lesson was the excitement the kids had around the project and the communication required to accomplish it!
My son spends his Wednesdays after school going to this incredible hands-on class where he works alongside his peers to understand foundational inventions of the past. He now knows and looks for examples of the Archimedes screw and the benefits of the inclined plane in his day to day life. It is incredible because kids are natural inventors/tinkerers
Everyone has different ideas. In the end, I love testing them all out and seeing how they work differently.
The projects are fantastic. They combine both visual creativity and mechanics of the way things work. The instructors provide the perfect balance of giving instruction and ensuring success, while giving the children the freedom to explore and make discoveries on their own.
THANK YOU! Too many times we receive programs that leave us disappointed in not taking the time to walk students through the process or to teach the concepts behind projects. Your teachers showed every step in a child-friendly way, and the discussions you led were meaningful and enlightening.
The League of Young Inventors takes children’s ideas seriously. Their concept seems rooted in a firm understanding that our planet is changing and these young people will inherit the consequences of their elders’ actions. This program should be implemented in classrooms across the country and the world overall.
Every teacher has been extremely positive about the experience, so I’m sure we’ll be ready for round 2 next year!
The League of Young Inventors is hands down the most thoughtful after school program we’ve encountered. It is rich in curriculum, pedagogy and spirit. They aim to grow kids’ minds by harnessing the natural creativity and curiosity of childhood.
The. best. program ever.
The League of Young Inventors manages to incorporate the magic and power of invention both through storytelling and hands-on activity in a way that is unlike any other after-school program we’ve experienced. My boys love it! In a world of dizzying educational options, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest.
You get to have fun and be creative–while still making something that works.
We are nothing short of SUPER FANS of the League! We’ve seen our son grow in confidence, science understanding, and fine-motor skills. He adores his teachers, is deeply engaged with the projects, and feels like an expert on the topics he learns about. It’s win-win-win each week 🙂
